Swiss startups unveil new solutions at CES 2021

Since January 11, various tech players worldwide and swiss startups, have been showcasing their inventions to the global audience attending the digital Consumer Electronics Show, CES 2021 until January 14. Typically companies, both large and small, use the platform, among other things, to unveil new products and services and their collaborations. Among the participating Swiss startups at the Swiss Pavilion, the following have made announcements:

LMD launches it V-Sensor
Lausanne based Leman Micro Devices (LMD) is the developer of regulated consumer healthcare products backed by major players within the mobile device industry. Its product, the V-Sensor is the first-ever miniature standalone device that measures five vital signs – blood pressure, blood oxygen (Sp02), respiration rate, pulse rate, and body temperature – to medical accuracy, completely cuff-less and calibration-free, with no other devices needed. Results are delivered on-screen in less than one minute in LMD’s e-Checkup app. The company launched the device at CES 2021 and announced that it would enter the market this year.

Biospectal launches public Beta Of OptiBP for blood pressure monitoring
Biospectal, the remote patient monitoring and biosensing software company, developed the OptiBP smartphone app and data platform to empower people worldwide with a medical-grade device integrated directly into their smartphone for instantaneous blood pressure measurement and monitoring, anytime and anywhere. The app runs on a typical smartphone and uses the built-in camera to record and measure a user’s blood flow via their fingertip quickly and easily. A measurement is rendered in approximately 20 seconds — half the time of a typical blood pressure cuff. The company’s proprietary algorithms and optical signal capture methods then transform the captured data into blood pressure values. The Biospectal OptiBP for Android public beta is available now in the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain and Switzerland.

Typewise launched version 3.0 of its keyboard
The Zurich based company designed a new keyboard layout to enable smartphone users to minimise errors by 80%, thanks to its patented ‘honeycomb’ style keyboard layout, designed specifically for smartphones. with 100% guaranteed privacy, Typewise can automatically recognise the user’s language and switch to that language, preventing any wrong words from entering the user’s work without changing the language in the settings.  The startup has launched version 3.0 of its keyboard, which features a new patent-pending autocorrection technology to enhance its exacting autocorrect abilities, language recognition, and data privacy.

Mictic enters the U.S market
The extended reality (XR) startup developed a wearable musical instrument Mictic, which translates the wearer’s body movements into sound. The product is expected to come to market in June of 2021, with popular musical instruments built in such as guitar, piano, drums and strings, and genre-driven soundscapes such as EDM, old school hip hop, trap and metal. Adding to its Zurich office, the company announced during CES 2021 that it opened a new office in Santa Monica, Southern California to expand distribution, licensing and talent relations.
