Industry players join forces to reinforce the Swiss fintech ecosystem

The Fintech industry continues to gain momentum in Switzerland as new startups join the market with cutting edge solutions for the industry. Alone in the first half of 2017, more than 200 fintech startups have been established.

As more fintech startups spread out in the Switzerland, support organisations and fintech influencers are joining forces to extend their support to strengthen the ecosystem. One of such organisations is the Swiss Finance Startups (SFS), which was established in 2014 by pioneers in the industry. SFS, in collaboration with its partners, is dedicated to fostering fintech startups in enhaning their technologies and as a means of bringing Switzerland to the forefront of innovation.

The SFS network has continued to expand as industry players from large organisations – including insurance companies, banks, and other finance institutions – join them to accelerate the development of fintech environment. Currently SFS counts on the support of over 55 partners.

Lately, SFS welcomed the St. Gallen based software company Abacus on board. Abacus will join the SFS network as sponsor and so-called "Fintech Driver". In addition, Abaccus will support the flagship event of the Swiss fintech and digitization scene, the Swiss Fintech Day, which takes place on 4th September 2017 in the Startup Space in Schlieren.

Startups on the other hand, play a significant role in expanding and strengthening the SFS network. Over 110 Swiss Fintech startups are engaged in the activities of SFS.

For the second time, SFS is hosting the Swiss Fintech day. The event brings together SFS partners, startups, players from the financial and digital ecosystem and like-minded individuals. Under the theme “The Ecosystem in Digitization”, speakers and experts from the industry will give insights into the industry as well as discuss how to build fintech hub in Switzerland.

The highlight of the event is the visit from the Federal Council Johann N. Schneider-Ammann who will discuss the main factors of healthy and modern ecosystem that drives innovation and jobs in the era of digitization.
