The Game Developers Conference (GDC) is the world's largest and longest-running professionals-only game industry event. Eight games were selected and announced as 'Best in Play' winners before the conference. Two out of those eight were developed in Switzerland: Rogallo by Blindflug Studios and Feist.

The Game Developers Conference (GDC) attracts over 22,500 attendees, and is the primary forum where programmers, artists, producers, game designers, audio professionals, business decision-makers and others involved in the development of interactive games gather to exchange ideas and shape the future of the industry. The next conference will take place in San Francisco in two weeks.

One of the elements of GDC is an exhibition called GDC Play, an initiative to promote emerging developers. Returning in 2015, Best in Play is a showcase of GDC Play's finest games. All GDC Play exhibitors will be judged on their in-development or complete games by a panel of veteran GDC organizers and Gamasutra editors. Eight participating games were selected and announced as 'Best in Play' winners prior to GDC. Winners receive two All-Access passes to GDC 2015. Special 'Best in Play' designations will be attached to the honorees' GDC Play tabletops at GDC 2015, where their games will be playable to all GDC attendees.

The selected games from Switzerland:

Rogallo by Blindflug Studios is a Roguelike with the topic of Immigration at its heart. Players accompany Francesco and Amelia across their journey of 5 deserts, to the Spire, the white city that leads to the world above the clouds. But it’s a hard way.

Feist is a multi-award winning computer game for PC and Mac that has been shown at exhibitions around the world and will be released this May. Completely physics driven and inhabited by capricious creatures, Feist puts a strong emphasis on playful exploration and an unpredictable course of action.

Swiss Games have won several other awards during the last weeks. An article on 20 Minuten gives an overview and provides some explanation.
