Today, start-ups and corporates collaborate on a broad range of projects. The cooperation of Coteries and Swiss Mobiliar is nevertheless probably unique.

Many Swiss corporates are experimenting with new ways of collaborating with startups –by being part of an accelerator, by launching a venture capital fund or by organizing hackathons. Less common are collaborations in HR. In October 2017, Swiss Mobiliar forged a new path by launching a pilot scheme, the Cross Company Program, in conjunction with Coteries, a well-known startup, aimed at recruiting outstanding software engineer graduates, who will then have the opportunity to enhance their skills over 12 months spent at both companies (i.e. an established firm and a startup). At the end of the period employees might continue to work for Swiss Mobiliar or Coteries.

“The Cross Company programme allows participants to gain insights into the workings of both a startup and a large corporation in the course of an internship. The aim is to enable interns to acquire knowledge beyond the confines of a single company”, explains Mafalda Lachat, specialist for human resources development at Swiss Mobiliar.

Swiss Mobiliar has chosen Coteries Lab, a web & mobile agency based at the EPFL Innovation Park, to launch the programme and recruit the first software engineer, who will be enrolled in the Cross Company Program from March/April 1st, 2018.

“Swiss Mobiliar itself is promoting a startup mindset by creating its own internal startups (called speedboats). In line with this approach, we want to give future interns, too, an early introduction to this innovative and agile way of working”, comments Mafalda Lachat.

Young graduates interested in this unique opportunity should apply before 15 February 2018 by visiting the following website: http://bit.ly/CrossCompanyProgram

Coteries Lab, a leading web/mobile agency, is based at the EPFL Innovation Park in Lausanne. It is headed by Sébastien Flury. Coteries Lab designs, develops and markets Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) as well as complete web and mobile applications for startups and corporates. The company also has products under its own label, such as Planify, a leading Group Travel Mobile application.
