Amazing Award Night at Lift

Yesterday evening the AlpICT Venture Night took place at the Lift Conference in Geneva. Several hundred participants gathered to see great pitches of Swiss start-ups. The winners: qipp, Goodwall and visionarity. In addition to the award ceremony the winner of the Seedstars World Competition, a company from South Korea named flitto, presented its fascinating crowdsourcing translation platform.

The AlpICT Venture Night is a highlight of every Lift conference. Yesterday eight start-ups pitched in the competition. There was a first round with 90 seconds pitching time for every company. Then the audience selected five start-ups that had the chance to pitch for six minutes and win the prize.

The five selected start-ups were: Cherry Checkout, Goodwall, qipp, visionarity and Witchlake Games.

Cherry Checkout is a plug-in to e-commerce websites giving e-shoppers a fun checkout option: Pay CHF 1.- more for the chance to win the basket of goods you are purchasing all while supporting a complimentary charity.

Goodwall is a humanitarian and environmental social network dedicated to connecting individuals, schools and organizations to get informed and involved with the social issues they care about.

qipp is a web application that makes it easy to organise personal things, share them with others and discover new things.

Visionarity has developed and innovative gamified solution for energy saving: Kelvin. Kelvin is the first awareness program that combines hardware, software and behavioral sciences to engage people on the habit of turning off devices at their offices when they’re not in use.

WitchLake, the company based in Peseux (Neuchâtel) presented their latest video game: It is the story of Sam, a strong but gentle teddybear who must protect a child from nightmares.

Several prizes were awarded at the Venture Night: the first, second and third prize selected by the jury, an audience award and the Nouvo Award for the best video presentation.

Qipp has won the first prize, offered by CTI start-up in collaboration with Swissnex: a one week Venture Trip to China for two people. Qipp will have the unique opportunity to meet Asian entrepreneurs and find new partners to boost its projects in Asia. Switzerland Global Enterprise will also help with identifying new commercial partners and arrange business meetings.

Visionarity came in second and Cherry Ckeckout ranked third.

The audience award went to Goodwall. And visionarity won the Nuovo Award and will receive an in-depth video feature on Swiss TV.

Apart from the pitches and the award ceremony the CEO of flitto, the winner of the Seedstars World Competition, presented his start-up. Flitto, a company from South Korea, is a crowdsourcing translation platform that allows you to access any content in your native language. Simon Lee, founder and CEO, presented in a live demo on stage how fast and accurate the solution works. The company which has launched apps for Android and iOS is very successful. It has three million users in 170 countries.
