PCMag, an online magazine with more than ten million monthly visitors, selected the best web apps of 2013. Along with apps such as Tumblr, Wordpress or Blogger.com feathe.rs was chosen in the category “Blogging / Webpages”.

Feathe.rs started as a side project by Nick Balestra, co-founder of Beyounic, and Matteo Agosti, lead architect at the same start-up from Ticino. On a trip to Bern they decided to hack on a little idea they had. By talking with others about this little hack-side project, they discovered that they weren't the only looking for a simple solution like this. That's why they kept on working on the project.

The result is feathe.rs, an app for writing and publishing articles. The word "Blog" comes from the combinations of the words "web" + "log", meaning that all blogs result in a list of all articles. Feathe.rs focusses on each article. The app doesn’t have the limitations of the well-known services. Users of feathe.rs don’t have to set to set up a theme, define tags, categories and so on. And the several articles are not published in a long list. Users are not pushed to publish regularly and they can change the topics they are writing about.

PCMag comments on the app: “Still in invite-only beta, Feathers looks like a promising mix of distraction-free writing come-to bloggers. You'll be greeted with a sample entry that you can erase and write over, and once you're done, you've blogged. The trick to getting it out to the world is sharing it on Facebook or Twitter.”
