The Female Innovator of the Year award which was held yesterday within the framework of the Female Innovation Forum was bestowed onto Sandra Tobler, co-founder and CEO of cybersecurity company Futurae. Sandra Neumann, founder and CEO  of the medtech startup Peripal took home the recognition award.

Organised by Swiss Ladies Drive, the Female Innovation Forum (FIF) provides female innovators from different walks of life with a platform to share and exchange ideas and insights through themed workshops, keynote speeches and an opportunity to expand their network. The third edition of the FIF hosted 200 visitors including politicians, startup founders, corporate leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs.

One of the highlights of the event was the keynote speech from Jacquelin Fehr, Head of the Directorate of Justice and Home Affairs of the Canton Zurich. Fehr, just as several studies have proven, acknowledged the fact that women are better leaders, yet, still only a few have broken through the glass ceiling both in established corporates and in the startup scene. She thereby emphasised the need to empower and promote women leaders in society in order to close the outstanding career-gap between women and men. She also appeals to women to continue following their ambition, develop their career and accept opportunities.

The event culminated with the presentation of the Female Innovator of the Year Award, which recognises female-founded startups for their innovating solutions, and the Recognition Award, which is bestowed onto individuals whose ideas are creating impact in society.
