Swiss Startup Day 2015

Swiss startup Day brings together startups, investors, support organisations, representatives of industrial companies and like-minded people to learn, share, inspire and expand their network. This year the event will take place in two days from October 24th to October 25th. Registration is now open. Start-ups that want to take part in the Pitching Battle can apply for the Elevator Pitches where the companies will be selected.

Last year Swiss Startup Invest (formerly known as CTI invest) hosted more than 600 participants including, 109 investors, 313 innovative start-up companies, 64 start-up coaches, 92 support organisations and like-minded individuals contributing to the Swiss start-up eco system – at the Swiss Startup Day in Stade de Suisse Bern.

Like every year the event has been further improved tailored to cater for the needs of start-ups, investors and all present guests. For the first time the Swiss Startup Day will be conducted in two days to allow start-ups to attend the Best Practice Sessions and to be also around for networking, 1 to 1 meetings etc.

The first day will start on October 24th in the afternoon with Best Practice Workshops covering four tracks; Legal, Finance, Administration and Tax as well as Sales and CTI services. The afternoon is organised in two sessions each running 100 minutes and start-ups are invited to participate in any of the four tracks. The speakers are experienced experts.

The second day of the event will have several highlights with a number of activities running parallel. Again the day will start with “Investors on Stage”. VCs, Business Angels, representatives of industrial companies and supporters will present themselves to the audience.

Pitching Battle
Just as in the previous event, there will be a pitching battle for start-ups on three different stages. 60 start-ups will present a 3-minute pitch. The winners will be awarded CHF 1000 and a voucher to be redeemed for any credible Start-up event in the following 12 months. The runner up will receive a cash prize of CHF 500 and a voucher.

To qualify for the Pitching Battle start-ups must take the elevator ride. This year there will be two elevator pitch events in Zurich for ICT, Cleantech, Fintech and Services start-ups (8 October) and in Basel for Life Sciences and Micro- / Nano-Companies (6 October). More information about the elevator pitches on the website of the Swiss Startup Day.

1:1 Meetings and Panel Discussions
Other highlights of the second event-day include two panels with start-ups on stage and one-to-one meetings (increased to 100 tables) where start-ups meet with potential investors, industrial partners, support organizations or other start-ups.
