Venture DAY

This week the first Venture Day of the year was held in Zurich. 20 startups presented themselves to investors. 250 one-to-one meeting took place. In addition, Startup Invest announced some news at the event.

The format of the Venture DAY was again slightly improved. 20 start-ups pitched on one stage to the audience. In total, about 200 people, mostly investors, attended the event. One highlight was again the one-to-on-meeting session in which start-ups could speak to investors, representatives of corporates and supporters. In the morning, the general assembly of Startup INVEST took place and contrary to the belief, that such events are more or less boring, the event offered several important news.

The Board of Directors was expanded. One goal of the expansion is to strengthen the ties with digitalswitzerland. Three new Members of the Board were elected: Pascale Vonmont, CEO Gebert Rüf Stiftung, Nicolas Bürer, Managing Director digitalswitzerland, and Mike Baur, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Swiss Startup Group.

IPO DAY in Lausanne
Startup INVESTs Managing Director Jean-Pierre Vuilleumier announced that in addition to the IPO Day in Zurich another IPO DAY will be held in cooperation with Innovaud, Euronext and Gotham in Lausanne on 13 June. The idea is to bring together Swiss scale-ups with investment bankers and advisors. First companies (Nexthink, Abionic, Amal Therapeutics) have already been selected.

In addition, Jean-Pierre Vuilleumier announced that Startup INVEST is working on a tool which will complement the events. It will help investors to find matching start-ups and vice versa with start-up profiles edited and maintained by the companies and automated alerts for investors when a timely investments opportunity comes up. As a first step, Startup INVEST redesigned all websites and unified the participants profile for all events.
