With its $2 million investment, Mysten Labs, a US-based Web3 infrastructure technology company, has entered a strategic alliance with Swiss startup Anapaya Systems. They aim to build a secure, highly available, high-performance Web3 infrastructure leveraging the SCION next-generation Internet.

The Web3 environment is built upon the premise of trustless networks and decentralized applications with numerous parties involved. The unique nature of Web3 drives its need for a highly secure and available communication fabric. Traditional industry solutions cannot provide these benefits due to their typically centralized operations or infrastructure.

SCION, the next-generation Internet architecture, emerges as the ideal solution for the Web3 communication infrastructure. SCION mitigates denial of service attacks, provides strong authentication options for all network traffic, and is by design immune to routing attacks, offering a security level not available with conventional IP networks. To this end, Anapaya Systems AG has been the major manufacturer of SCION infrastructure, which has been deployed in Switzerland in the banking and healthcare sectors.

Through their strategic partnership, Anapaya Systems and Mysten Labs are committed to expanding the SCION network for Sui, setting new standards for security, availability, and performance in Web3 communications. Mysten Labs is the initial contributor to Sui blockchain, a first-of-its-kind Layer 1 blockchain and smart contract platform.

With Anapaya’s SCION solutions, the Sui blockchain will benefit from highly available connectivity between all parties with SCION connectivity, especially across various network providers. SCION is also designed to withstand attacks on routing protocols and defend against DDoS flooding attacks with built-in protection mechanisms, enabling highly available communication. Furthermore, SCION offers high-performance data communication through path optimizations and improvements across various metrics such as latency, bandwidth, jitter, and loss.

In line with the partnership agreement, Mysten Labs invested USD 2 million in the startup, marking the start of their innovative partnership.

Martin Bosshardt, CEO of Anapaya Systems, adds, “Anapaya’s SCION-based products are about to change the Web3 landscape as we know it today. Anapaya and Mysten Labs are at the forefront of this movement, working together to empower decentralized applications and networks with SCION. We thank Mysten Labs for their trust and seeing the value of this partnership for advancing their solutions.”
