Aiming for faster growth with new Board members

Five Swiss startups have appointed new board members and chairpersons of the board to drive their companies into the future. The appointees bring a wealth of experience in working with startups in different sectors, spanning from female healthcare innovations and biotech to organisational culture and sustainability.

Susan Nicholson & Jessica J. Federer join Aspivix’s Board of Directors, fortifying the company’s leadership in women’s healthcare innovation. Appointed to the position of chairperson, Susan Nicholson brings over 25 years of experience in biotech, big pharma, medical devices, and consumer health. Her impact on women’s health –particularly in addressing the maternal mortality crisis – is significant and inspiring. Her unwavering dedication and expertise align seamlessly with Aspivix’s mission to provide high-quality, equitable healthcare solutions. Jessica Federer, an experienced board member and former Chief Digital Officer of Bayer AG is recognised as an icon in digital health and emerging innovations, focusing on deploying technology for meaningful advancements in business and society. She is committed to increasing investment in innovations to modernise women’s health. The two joined Keren Leshem (CEO of OCON Therapeutics) to uplift Aspivix. The startup developed Carevix is a cervical stabiliser that uses a gentle approach to minimise pain and bleeding during various transcervical procedures, including Intrauterine Device (IUD) placement.

Moodtalk
Founded in 2021 in Canon Uri, Moodtalk built a team development software for modern companies that value team culture and teamwork. The AI-powered software highlights potential growth areas in teams early on and serves as the basis for regular team conversations that turn good teams into super teams. More than 170 teams are revolutionising teamwork with Moodtalk to build a future-proof organisational culture. With Melanie Gabriel on the company’s Board of Directors, the startup has won an experienced member to support the strategic development of Moodtalk. She was the co-founder and long-time Chief Marketing Officer of Yokoy.

Swisspod
Swisspod, a Swiss-American company pioneering hyperloop technology, has welcomed Luis Baptista-Coelho to its Board of Directors. Baptista-Coelho brings a substantial background in tech sector management, underpinned by a successful track record of global enterprise expansion. His wealth of business expertise will be pivotal in enhancing Swisspod's efforts to secure investments further and nurture strategic partnerships worldwide. Cultivating a career spanning over 2 decades, Baptista-Coelho has garnered extensive experience in technology industry leadership, with a comprehensive global perspective. He is deeply rooted in the dynamics of business acceleration, and his professional journey has been marked by a distinctive inclination toward tech startups. Over the last 15 years, across 3 distinct organisations, Luis spearheaded the transformation of regional businesses into global enterprises, successfully expanding into markets across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), the Asia-Pacific (APAC), Latin America (LATAM), the United States and Canada.

Nikin forms its board
Two members joined the Board of Directors of Nikin, the startup dedicated to saving the planet by planting a tree for each of its fair and sustainable fashion products. The company appointed Oliver Brunschwiler as its first external Board of Directors. Oliver has founded several companies himself and was CEO at Freitag. His strengths lie primarily in the areas of circular economy, innovation, strategy and organisation. He will serve as the controlling body of the company, supporting it in making important strategic decisions, appointing the management, controlling and ensuring governance. Peter Schüpbach joined Oliver. A serial entrepreneur, investor and member of the board of directors of many successful Swiss start-ups, Peter brings a wealth of knowledge in the areas of strategy, community building, e-commerce and start-ups.

Antion Biosciences
Since August this year, John Tchelingerian has been the chairperson of Antion Biosciences’ Board of Directors. The startup is developing universal cell and gene therapy products for the treatment of diseases with significant unmet medical needs. Antion’s proprietary gene silencing and miCARTM technologies allow for a modular and tunable approach to the multiplex engineering of therapeutic cells. John brings a wealth of experience as an investor-entrepreneur as well through the CEO positions that he held at various biotech start-ups over his career. His experience will be instrumental in guiding the company through the next growth phase.
