Switzerland's first hackathon devoted to digital healthcare will be held in Sierre from 5 to 7 June. Developers, designers, graphic designers, healthcare professionals and IT enthusiasts are invited to take part in this event, christened Arkathon Hacking Health Valais. The winning team will receive a prize worth CHF 25,000.

From 5 to 7 June 2015, The Ark Foundation is organising a whole weekend devoted to digital healthcare, the first event of this kind in Switzerland. It is inspired by hackathons, events which are very popular in the United States, and involve developers getting together to do some collaborative programming. The hackathon devoted to e-health will take place at TechnoArk in Sierre, in partnership with the Hacking Health network.

Registration now open
On the www.arkathon.ch website, healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, ambulance paramedics, rescue workers, physiotherapists etc.) have already put forward at least ten challenges or practical problems that they encounter on a daily basis in their work. Others will follow between now and the beginning of June.
Developers, IT engineers and graphic designers interested in working on these challenges can register now. During the Arkathon weekend, TechnoArk will offer them an atmosphere conducive to solving these problems, with the aid of the latest IT tools, and interacting with healthcare professionals.

CHF 25,000 for the winners
The results of the work will be presented on 7 June, and also during an e-health day on 11 June. The winning team will receive a prize worth CHF 25,000, which will include CHF 10,000 in cash plus a three-month programme of intensive support, and premises in which to develop the project that it started at the Arkathon.
