The third call for proposals under the Swiss Bluetec Bridge is now open, with an extended scope in the water sector. Deadline for submission of project proposals is 28 February 2014.

The Swiss Bluetec Bridge strives to accelerate sustainable access to water for economically poor people in rural areas and small towns in developing and emerging countries (“base of the pyramide – BoP”). Access to water includes :

  • purifying water for human consumption or agriculture;
  • providing drinking water (extract, ship, store, etc.) and
  • preserving water quality (sanitation).

The initiative supports start-ups and SME with an innovative technology and/or process (pilot project or tested prototype) applicable to rural areas or small towns in developing or emerging countries. Selected projects receive up to 50% of project costs (max. CHF 250,000 per project) in the form of an interest-free loan. Technical, managerial and business support is added if needed.
