The Venture Briefing event series is designed to help students with an intent to pursue entrepreneurship take their first steps towards building a successful company.

The event features Samantha Anderson, CEO and Co-founder at DePoly and Luc Piguet, CEO and Co-founder at ClearSpace.

After several experiences as Research Assistant, Samantha successfully completed her PhD in Carbon Capture and Storage at EPFL in 2019. DePoly SA was founded with the mission to close the loop on PET plastic recycling. DePoly SA was listed in the Top 100 ranking of the Swiss startup Award in 2022. DePoly SA recently closed a financing round of 2.7 million CHF, as a "SERI-funded EIC Accelerator Grant" provided by the federal government, after numerous awards and nominations.

Luc has a background in electrical and electronics engineering from EPFL and held various leadership positions before founding ClearSpace in 2018. His mission is to make space sustainable, by removing debris from Earth's orbit. ClearSpace was also listed in the 2022 Top 100 ranking Swiss startup Award, raised 4 million CHF in 2021, and is growing internationally.

They will share their startup experience and details about their journey of building a successful company.

They will also help answer some of your questions during the Q&A session, such as:

  • How to become an entrepreneur?
  • How to validate my idea?
  • How to fund my idea?
  • How to find help to bring my idea to life?

You will also be introduced to different support programs available to early-stage entrepreneurs:

  • Blaze Accelerator (6-months accelerator program at the EPFL)
  • Venture Kick (up to 150K pre-seed capital for business development)
  • InnoBooster (up to 150k grant to accelerate market entry)
