The Venture Briefing event series is designed to help students with an intent to pursue entrepreneurship take their first steps towards building a successful company. The event features Samantha Anderson, CEO and Co-founder at DePoly and Masoud Talebi Amiri, CEO and Co-Founder of Qaptis.

Samantha successfully completed her PhD in Carbon Capture and Storage at EPFL in 2019. DePoly SA was founded with the mission to close the loop on PET plastic recycling. DePoly SA was listed in the Top 100 ranking of the Swiss startup Award in 2023. DePoly SA closed last year a financing round of 12.3 million CHF, allowing the startup to scale up its technology to reduce plastic by an additional 500 tonnes annually.

Masoud Talebi Amiri completed his PhD in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at EPFL in 2018. Qaptis was founded in 2021 with the mission to decarbonize heavy-duty vehicles. Since its launch, Qaptis has been supported by numerous institutions, such as Mass ChallengeFIT Foundation, EPFL Innogrant, the Ark incubation program, and the Swiss Climate Foundation.

Samantha and Masoud will share their startup experience and details about their journey of building a successful company.

They will also help answer some of your questions during the Q&A session, such as:

  • How to become an entrepreneur?
  • How to validate my idea?
  • How to fund my idea?
  • How to find help to bring my idea to life?

You will also be introduced to different support programs available to early-stage entrepreneurs:

  • Venture Kick (CHF 1'000'000+ to kick your startup to global markets)
  • InnoBooster (up to 150k grant to accelerate market entry)
  • First Ventures (financial support and tailored coaching program for University of Applied Science students)
