Today Flexcell is producing mobile solar chargers and solar cells for buildings in its factory in Yverdon. The road to success was long and full of obstacles. A very interesting article now tells the story of the company.

The company VHF-Technologies SA, better known under the brand name Flexcell, was founded in 2000 at the Ecole d’Ingénieurs du Canton de Neuchâtel in Le Locle. Flexcell's unique technology makes it possible to produce solar cells with a thin, flexible plastic substrate instead of glass. In comparison with the production of traditional crystalline modules, the technology requires 300 times less semi-conductor raw materials, resulting in high production volumes and low energy consumption.

Today Flexcell is able to deliver innovative mobile solar chargers and to provide integration solutions for the building industry (Building Integrated Photovoltaics). The company is running its own factory in Yverdon-les-Bains.

The road to success was long and full of obstacles. During the last ten years the survival of the company was several times in danger. A very interesting in article in “l’Hebdo” tells this story and explains how several founders managed to keep their company alive.
