Living PlanIT’s CEO Steve Lewis selected by the World Economic Forum as a Technology Pioneer 2012. Living PlanIT, a Swiss registered entity, designated as one of 25 winners chosen from around the world

Living PlanIT is a technology company, founded in 2006, and focused on delivering technologies and platforms to improve efficiencies and accelerate change in cities and urban spaces - providing the missing link between the real estate and technology sectors. Cities are complex systems where inefficiencies arise because systems are not interconnected and have no way to "talk" to one another. Living PlanIT is addressing these problems by developing technologies for the more efficient design, development and operation of future cities, which will enable a reduction in the use of natural resources and help cities to respond to the evolving needs of their citizens. As the technology industry moves into the era of Machine to Machine communications Living PlanIT’s Urban Operating System (UOS™) has become the de facto standard for the industrialization of the internet, orchestrating all manner of intelligent devices, from those embedded in the very fabric of buildings, to those managing energy, water, waste, transportation, medical and interactive surfaces.

“We are honoured and delighted to have received this recognition from the World Economic Forum, as it shows we are leading the way in tackling some of the most challenging and fundamental issues we face as a Planet,” commented Steven Lewis, Co-Founder and CEO, Living PlanIT. “Momentum is beginning to build around our vision and strategy; with major partnerships signed, and on-going discussions some of the world’s leading corporations, the timing of this award reflects the interest developing within this sector. Personally I am also extremely pleased for our team, as being chosen as a Technology Pioneer validates all the dedication and hard work of everyone at Living PlanIT.”

Living PlanIT is working with a variety of partners to commence a series of projects in locations around London, as well as building its own city, PlanIT Valley, in the North of Portugal. This site will operate as a fully functional city but, in the process, will also be an urban-scale test bed for the technologies developed by Living PlanIT’s partner ecosystem. Partners include Buro Happold, Deutsche Telekom, McLaren, Alliander, Cisco Systems and Microsoft Corporation.
