Startups from across Switzerland competed in various award competitions worldwide, scoring high positions. On top of the international recognition, the startups will benefit from new high-level networks and company support.

Free Electrons is the first global energy startup accelerator program designed to connect the most promising energy startups worldwide with leading utility companies. In the 8th edition, 29 startups will join a bootcamp end of May in Madrid where they will pitch and receive feedback from global companies. The bootcamp also acts as testing and validation ground for business cases, supported by different industry experts. Among the selected startups for the bootcamp is Zurich spinoff Tethys Robotics. Tethys Robotics is developing a compact and autonomous underwater drone for automated inspection and assessments in rough waters. Startups that exhibit the highest potential after the bootcamp will proceed to the piloting phase with the ten global energy companies at Free Electrons accelerator in the United States.

SET Award 2024: Two Swiss startups made it to the list
The 8th edition of the annual SET100 List showcases the 100 most the most promising energy startups of 2024. In the last seven years, the award has received more than 3,100 applications from over 100 countries. This year, two Swiss startups made it to the list: EPFL-spinoff TreaTech and Dübendorf-based startup Viboo. TreaTech developed a disposal solution to turn waste into valuable products such as renewable energy, clean water and contaminant-free methane-rich gas while recovering valuable minerals. Viboo, on the other hand, offers a Predictive Control as a Service platform that connects to Smart Thermostats and reduces the energy consumption of buildings by 20-40%. Through SET100 these two startups can showcase their forward-thinking solutions and connect with companies, investors, and other startups through the program.

Two awards at Intertraffic for Transcality
Zurich-based startup Transcality is celebrating a double win at Intertraffic Amsterdam, the leading global business and government gathering on smart mobility, infrastructure, traffic management, road safety and parking. The 2024 edition featured well over 900 exhibiting public and private organisations and welcomed more than 35,000 industry professionals and representatives from cities and regions from around 140 countries. Swiss start-up Transcality took home both prizes at ITSUP, the platform for startups at Intertraffic Amsterdam. On top of the pitch-competition, Transcality also won the SWARCO ITSUP challenge together with SMATS Traffic Solutions Inc. The ETH-spinoff uses big data, cloud computing, machine learning and simulation to create digital transportation twins at larger scale, much quicker, anywhere worldwide, and completely automated. Over the next two years, Transcality’s primary objective is to advance its software-as-a-service digital twin products to support public authorities at all levels as well as private infrastructure operators and engineering firms in the planning and operation of modern transportation systems. The prize at Intertraffic entails a 6-month acceleration program - the chance to combine the agility of two startups with the capabilities of an ITS leader to test and refine Transcality’s innovative approaches.
