Every year, the Solar Impulse Foundation awards outstanding companies the Solar Impulse Label for their innovative sustainable solutions. Since January this year, ten Swiss startups have attained the Label; they offer solutions for soil regeneration and accelerating the transition to renewable energy.

There is a dire need for solutions that will help combat climate change across all industries, and Switzerland is home to several cleantech startups working on innovative approaches to address the current challenges. This year, the Solar Impulse Foundation has awarded ten startups with the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label. While some startups are in their early stages with prototypes, others have already advanced into the commercialisation phase.

Meet the ten awarded startups:

NaturaYuva – offers an Agroforestry solution to produce natural ingredients for the B2B market while rejuvenating nature and empowering farmers.

Green-Y Energy – developed a solution that combines electricity storage with heating and cooling in one device for buildings and industry using a patented compressed air technology.

Urbio – is a SaaS platform that accelerates 10x the decarbonisation of buildings with generative AI, enabling real estate professionals and utilities to prioritise and design projects for individual buildings, entire portfolios, or large cities.

Real Nuturation – designed a biodiversity incubator, a land management model that combines the renaturing of degraded land and restoration of biodiversity with removing greenhouse gases to enable the gradual restoration of soil quality and rebuild ecosystems over time.

Simon + Josef – offers a solution that helps guests staying 2+ nights at a hotel to customise the housekeeping services. This allows for resource savings while enhancing the guest experience in hotels. Customers have already saved 490'500 liters of water and 815 kWh of energy.

VunaNexus – uses patented technology to produce a safe, effective, certified fertiliser by recycling human and livestock urine.

Zaphiro – developed and commercialises SynchroGuard, an innovative monitoring and automation solution for smart grids to increase the integration of renewables and reliability of power systems.

Sun Ways – takes advantage of the unused space between railroad tracks to place removable solar power plants.

Treatech – developed a disposal solution to turn waste into valuable products such as renewable energy, clean water and contaminant-free methane-rich gas while recovering valuable minerals.

Enerdrape – develops the first available modular, prefabricated, and scalable geothermal panel technology that allows turning any new or existing underground infrastructure into a renewable source for the heating and cooling of buildings.

About the Solar Impulse Label
The Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label is designed to shed light on existing clean and profitable solutions. Products, services, or processes that combine credible environmental and economic performance while outperforming the mainstream options in their market are eligible for the Label. The decision to grant the Label is based on a rigorous assessment performed by external, independent Experts. The development of stringent selection criteria has resulted in the Solar Impulse Label being internationally recognised and endorsed by several institutions, states, and cities around the world.
