Sanovation has had a good traction with its pain diary app CatchMyPain: The team from Glattbrugg was able to attract over 60’000 patients so far and over 1’400 new ones are starting to use the app each week. In the past weeks, the Sanovation team has rolled out an important update introducing the CatchMyPain community.

The Community allows English speaking patients to see each other's pain drawings and share their insights about living with chronic pain. There have been well over 1'000 posts within a few weeks. In accordance with the introduction of the community, Sanovation has completely redesigned the CatchMyPain Website, highlighting the importance of sharing pain knowledge with others.

The community brings Sanovation one step closer to its ultimate goal of allowing patients and medical practitioners to learn from similar patients around the world. Daniel Lawniczak, the CEO and co-founder of Sanovation, suffers from chronic pain himself and he is sure that there must be other patients on this planet having the exact same problem. That's why the team is developing machine learning algorithms which will identify clusters of similar patients based on the anonymized data from the pain diaries. The goal is to provide statistics about the most probable diagnoses and the most promising treatments for each cluster of patients. With this information medical practitioners and patients will be able to significantly improve the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain.

Solution for medical practicioners
The next step for Sanovation is to develop a web based professional pain documentation and analysis system which will allow medical practitioners to view the pain diaries of their patients and statistics about their patient population. E.g. a doctor will be able to view the average effect of a specific treatment conducted on patients who suffer from migraine in their forehead and around the left ear. This is made possible by having detailed digital pain drawings made by the patients instead of having hand written notes in a file cabinet.  Besides the new analytical possibilities the system will save medical practitioners a lot of time because patients become co-authors of their health records and take care of a large part of the documentation work.

Daniel Lawniczak adds: "Investors who are interested in being part of the healthcare disruption and who want to help the over 100 million chronic pain patients to get rid of their pain, can participate in Sanovation’s current financing round which is open until the end of November 2014. You will have the opportunity to watch the Sanovation pitch and talk to me at the upcoming CEO Day."
