Newscron Wins De Vigier Fan Prize

Newscron is a revolutionary App that aggregates news from newspapers based on user’s preferences, in a way to give the readers complete, structured and updated information from different sources. Thanks to the underlying powerful semantic algorithm, developed at ETH in Zurich by Elia Palme, CEO, the app is able to filter and organize the news by grouping articles related to the same topic in ‘’stories’’, which allows you to follow the evolution of a story in the timeline and keeps you from reading the same article twice. Since this April the first multilingual news aggregator/curator is available in Italy, Spain, Germany, France and UK.

The Fan Prize of the WA de Vigier Foundation for Newscron is a proof that the App is really able to provide its users a faster and easier access to information. Start-ups wishing to emulate Newscron can now apply for the next WA de Vigier award. The application period runs to the end of September. The main criteria for an award-worthy project are innovative character, societal importance, technical and financial feasibility, and market potential. The selection process is carried out according to strict rules, and a winner, or team of winners, receives a prize of CHF100,000. In addition, the foundation takes a stake with an additional CHF10,000 in the company (max 10%). It also provides practical assistance in the development of market-ready services or products, and helps in building a network of contacts to ensure long-term success.
