ClearSpace

Clearspace, the startup dedicated to providing in-orbit services and Meteomatics, the weather intelligence and analytics provider, have established a subsidiary in the United States. Blockchain startup Nym Technologies has set up its office in France.

Spacetech startup Clearspace , which is on a mission to deliver transformative in-orbit services that enable a vibrant, resilient, and sustainable space energized the space community in 2020 when, it won a prime contract from the European Space Agency worth nearly $100 million to develop and conduct the world’s first orbital debris removal mission, dubbed ClearSpace-1. Since then, the company has grown into a world-class team of nearly 100 people, with offices in four countries across Europe, and now in the United States. The startup is  working not just on ClearSpace-1, but also on an additional debris removal mission and a mission with Intelsat to extend the life of a satellite in geosynchronous orbit.

The technologies developed and refined for those missions will serve as foundational capabilities and will be expanded to support the portfolio of services ClearSpace intends to offer to US customers in both public and private sectors. With the support of US partners, ClearSpace will expand its service offerings to not only include spacecraft disposal and life extension, but also in-space transport, inspection, assembly, manufacturing, repair, and recycling.

Also in the US is Meteomatics, the leading provider of weather intelligence and analytics. Meteomatics North America will focus on providing customers with accurate, reliable, and timely weather data, powered by the company's proprietary Meteodrones and its’ unique weather API, the sophisticated weather data platform developed by Meteomatics. The weather API, specifically designed for data scientists, enables users to access, analyze, and visualize weather data with ease, empowering them to make informed decisions based on real-time weather information.

The introduction of Meteomatics North America reflects the company's commitment to expanding its global presence and providing world-class weather data and insights to businesses and individuals across the globe. The new division will enable Meteomatics to better serve its growing customer base in North America and continue its mission of revolutionizing the way people interact with and understand the weather.

Nym technologies has also expanded its footprint by setting up an office in Paris, France. The startup developed the Nym Protocol, an open-source, decentralized, permissionless and incentivized system that provides full-stack privacy. This allows developers to build applications or services that provide users with strong guarantees against metadata surveillance, at both the level of network traffic, and the level of authentication and payments – while maintaining operational and financial sustainability According to the startup, Nym France is the first company in France to be set up purely in Bitcoin, without a traditional bank account. This is a revolutionary step which sets the pace for Nym’s ambition in the French tech ecosystem. The foundation on the discourse of privacy has been built in French tech through projects like Ledger and Arianee. Nym’s vision is to further advance and push privacy firmly to the forefront alongside other French tech giants.
