Marenco, a start-up based in Glarus, develops the first Swiss helicopter. The company has built a flight-capable prototype.

Marenco Swisshelicopter Ltd was founded in 2007 for the direct purpose of developing, building and commercializing a new concept of light turbine helicopter. The company is backed by a foreign investor. However Marenco’s SKYe SH09 will be the first helicopter fully developed in Switzerland. Today the company showed a flight-capable prototype at the Mollis airfield. Back in April 2013 Marenco has already announced that it has received 47 pre-orders for its product.

Marenco’s SKYe SH09 is a helicopter, offering high performance, a flexible engine concept and a low noise signature thanks to the newly developed dynamic assembly and a shrouded tail-rotor.

The modularity of the cabin makes the most of the flat floor and the unique high ceiling concept, offering multiple seating arrangements with 5 to 8 individual seats and facilitated rear access loading through the clamshell doors for cargo and medical stretchers, both addressing the passenger transport and emergency evacuation roles of the helicopter.

The SKYe SH09 is the only helicopter in the 2.5 metric ton class to combine a full-composite fuselage, an advanced bearing-free rotor system with 5-blades, an electronically governed engine and a glass-cockpit.
