Abhati and Dizmo, both start-ups from Switzerland, ran successful crowdfunding campaigns recently. Apelab, EveryCook, Gbanga and Rundercover are trying to do the same.

Yesterday the Kickstarter campaign of dizmo has come to a close. The original goal was $25’000. But the campaign was so successful that the dizmo team stretched its goal and has now received $43’000. And in December Abhati, a young cosmetics company, raised $25’000 on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.

Several other Swiss start-ups are trying to follow suit:

Apelab is a young research / interaction design lab based in Geneva, Switzerland. The studio has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for IDNA, its first spatial storytelling series for mobile devices. IDNA is a new kind of storytelling experience. It’s at the crossing between an animation film, a choose-your-own-adventure book, and a video game. Each scene of the story is designed in 360 degrees; it's up to the player to decide where to look. The narrative is never twice the same, as the player’s focus will seamlessly influence the course of the story. Apelab’s first goal is the release of a free interactive prologue of IDNA on iOS (iPad, iPhone & iPod Touch). This app will be released when the Kickstarter campaign reaches the $30,000 bar. EveryCook is an innovative cooking device that takes in raw food and processes it into a finished meal. The intelligent device connects to an online recipe database to provide the user with a large choice of meal options and it links to his smartphone to guide him through all process steps that require manual action (shopping, adding ingredients etc.). The team behind EveryCook has already financed the prototypes but now needs financial support to finalize the first version of EveryCook and started a Indiegogo campaign last week. Funds of the backers will be spent on manufacturing of the devices, CE/UL Certification, software development and product and software testing.

Gbanga Famiglia Rise and Fall is a mafia-themed open world game that is based on the real world through open data. It turns traditional game concepts such as racing, heists and strategic organization into an immersive mobile massive multiplayer online (MMO) outdoor game that you will play everywhere and at all times. The team at game studio Gbanga have worked on this type of games since 2007, in 2010 Gbanga launched the 2D-mafia game Famiglia I and this year the start-up wants to bring the genre to the next level. The team has decided to split the development into different phases to make sure the game project comes to life for sure. With the initial goal, Gbanga can fund the development of the basic game with an open world and mini-games. With additional funds, the studio will be able to focus on deeper game mechanics, a more sophisticated environment and an infinite rich treasure of quests through the Game API.

Rundercover is a thrilling interactive audio-game that makes outdoor exercises more fun and more rewarding. The concept is simple but unique: Combining adventure and exercise into a truly immersive reality game. Rundercover works anywhere, no matter where the player is and where he or she wants to run. The scene of the story might be the player’s neighbourhood, the park, the woods, or even the favorite running track. The first version of Rundercover will be available for iOS and is scheduled to be available in the store this summer. In order to complete the Rundercover experience, the developers will need funding from their Kickstarter campaign to complete the development and record the sounds and stories.
