Kandou Bus strengthens inhouse expertise in fabrication, packaging and test of its chips

Kandou Bus, a Lausanne based startup with approximately 200 employees in its offices in Europe, North America and Asia, specialises in high-speed, energy-efficient chip-to-chip link solutions. The company offers disruptive technologies through standard products and licensing of IP solutions to enable smaller, more energy-efficient, and cost-effective electronic devices. The startup’s offering now includes actual semiconductor chips sold to other companies. Kandou has outsourced production, assemby and test partners. This requires inhouse expertise in fabrication, chip packaging and test. Therefore Kandou has now opened an office in Scotland. 

Scotland’s long-established electronics sector and outstanding technical universities compelled Kandou to set up an office in the country. The new facility in "Silicon Glen" will accommodate more than 20 employees in product, test, packaging, quality engineering, and supply chain roles. Kandou is currently recruiting to fill open positions in several of the mentioned areas.

“Being based in the U.K. allows the operational teams to remain close to our design engineering offices in England and also within one-hour time difference to our headquarters in Switzerland and our design centers in Germany and Denmark. We’re happy with the talent pool we have attracted to our Silicon Glen office and look forward to expanding our operations wherever we see a good business case”, said Kandou General Manager Frank Lavety.

This announcement follows a chain of achievements accomplished by the startup in the past months. Besides closing a $75 million financing round, the company secured the supply chain capacity commitments to meet the growing customer demand for its USB4 Retimer Chips this year.
