Adaptricity selected for Free Electrons

Free Electrons is the first global energy-startup-accelerator program that connects the world's most promising energy startup companies with leading utility companies. Out of 515 entries from 65 countries, the jury has selected 30 startups for its second cohort to participate in the 2018 program. The selected startups offer solutions from across the energy spectrum including IoT & digitization, smart grids, clean energy, E-mobility, energy management and energy efficiency.

Among the 30 startups is the Swiss startup Adaptricity, established as a as a spin-off of the Power Systems Laboratory run by ETH Zurich. The startup specialises in the planning and optimization of distribution grids. While renewable energies and intelligent algorithms continue to grow, smart grid technology and big data analysis methods become crucial requirements for modern energy supply systems. As such, Adaptricity developed a highly innovative software for time series-based simulation and analysis of electric power grids. The solution is applicable across a wide range of applications including for grid planning, grid operations and asset management.

Together with the 30 startups, Adaptricity will work closely with local players, utilities, mentors and other resources to accelerate their growth, starting with a one-week "bootcamp" in Lisbon (Portugal). Three subsequent modules will take place in Sydney/Melbourne (Australia), the Silicon Valley (USA), and the final stage in Berlin (Germany).

Free Electrons utility members are American Electric Power (USA) Ausnet Services (Australia), DEWA (Dubai), EDP (Portugal), ESB (Ireland), Innogy (Germany), Origin Energy (Australia), SP Group (Singapore) and TEPCO (Japan). Beta-i (Portugal) is supporting the program.
