About the role
As the R&D Manager, principally working in Balerna, Switzerland, you will play a pivotal role in leading our innovation efforts. You will be responsible for all r&d activities and coordinate the industrialization of products. You will lead internal initiatives as well as institutionally or privately funded research projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a start-up environment where one person can truly make a difference.

Your tasks:
• Lead the research and development efforts, focusing on advancing manufacturing processes for technical ceramics, with a special focus on additive manufacturing.
• Drive innovation in ceramic material formulations and production techniques to enhance product performance and quality.
• Collaborate to identify research opportunities and prioritize projects based on strategic objectives.
• Develop and execute research plans, experiments, and testing protocols to evaluate new materials and technologies, ensuring alignment with project timelines and budgetary constraints.
• Lead the company's efforts in institutionally and privately funded research programs, fostering partnerships with academic institutions and industry collaborators.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive developments in technical ceramics and additive manufacturing.
• Act as a liaison between R&D and other functional areas (e.g. production, quality assurance, sales) to ensure seamless integration of new technologies and processes into commercial products.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members involved in R&D projects, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Who you are:
• Master's degree or PhD in Material Science, Chemistry, or related field, or equivalent practical experience in technical ceramics and/or additive manufacturing.
• Extensive expertise in additive manufacturing, particularly binder jetting technology, and in technical ceramics.
• Proven track record in leading research and development projects.
• Exceptional problem-solving and innovative thinking abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in English.
