L’Oréal R&I Open Innovation is looking for pioneering ideas to boost its commercial relevance and find cross-sector opportunities to improve the current offering for hair, skin, and make-up.

This call for innovation is aiming at bringing ideas that could extend the company’s capabilities in the fields of Luxury, Professional Products, Cosmetics, or Consumer Products. We are looking for ideas and startup projects that address the key challenges on the mentioned areas. For example, minimizing the usage of water or plastic packaging or making existing products cleaner and greener. Additionally, new smart materials, ingredients, or processes to improve the quality of the existing products.
 
Whether your project or startup is operating in different verticals such as Food, Energy, Chemistry, Bio-Medical, Textile, Cosmetics, Engineering, Water Treatment, or whether your technology is Data Driven, Biotechnology, Advanced Material, Artificial Intelligence, or Formulation Science (not exclusively) this might be the right next step for you if you see an application for collaboration with L'Oreal.

This call for innovation is searching for the best start-ups and academic spinouts to develop the next generation of beauty products. The target audience are startups with technologies that address the key challenges in the following areas:

  • Ingredients (eg. small molecules, polymers, minerals, smart materials, dyes/pigments, surfactants) that will be bio-based, from circular economy, biodegradable, from green chemistry or from abundant minerals.
  • An innovative and sustainable process to obtain these ingredients that will minimize the impact on the environment.
  • New at home devices that would diagnose or bring supra performance with energies, personalization, and the precision of application, in association with formula/products.
