The organizers of the Zurich Climate Prize received 108 applications. Nearly half of them were submitted by start-ups.

A total of 108 projects were submitted by the entry deadline for the Zurich Climate Prize, Switzerland & Liechtenstein, on June 16, 2014. The organizers received 47 projects for the Homes and Building category, 40 for Production & Consumption and 21 for Transport & Mobility. These included 44 projects entered by start-up companies. The high number is remarkable because the special start-up category of the prize was only launched this year. It seems that there are a lot of cleantech start-ups around in Switzerland.

The projects will now be checked and prepared for the jury. All those who submitted a project will immediately receive written confirmation.

The Climate Prize for Switzerland & Liechtenstein has a prize totalling CHF 150'000. An independent panel of experts and well-known public figures chaired by ETH Professor Emeritus René P. Schwarzenbach will select and announce the winners at the award ceremony. The ceremony will take place in the Umwelt Arena in Spreitenbach on November 26, 2014.
