The 15th SwissICT Investor’s Day held yesterday at the BlueLion Incubator in Zurich was particularly interesting. Beside the pitches of eight start-ups a new business angel club made its first public appearance at the event. The core team includes Thomas Dübendorfer, Jan Fülscher, Dania Gerhardt and other well-known entrepreneurs and investors.

Eight start-ups pitched yesterday at the ICT Investor’s Day in Zurich: ARTregards.com, BlogF, Comeet, Controlled Cloud Company, Oviva, Uberchord Engineering, VRmandat and Wealthport. Four companies were selected by the audience for the second round of presentations:

  • BlogF is a platform that connects and publishes premium content from women owned blogs. Bloggers can apply for partnership and if taken on board get featured on the BlogF home page.
  • Comeetapp.com wants to make meeting new people as easy and comfortable as meeting existing friends.
  • Uberchord Engineering develops software to teach musical instruments in a new way.
  • The online platform VRMandat.com helps finding company board members more easily.

Uberchord was the winner of the evening. Three co-founders convinced the jury with a perfect pitch, ambitious growth plans and a live demo of their real-time chord recognition app.

The second highlight of the day followed at the end of the official part of the event. Jan Fülscher announced the start of the first Swiss business angel club for ICT start-ups only. The organisation was officially founded last week. The members of the core team are remarkable. The team includes Alexander Büch (e2e), Thomas Dübendorfer (Ex-Google Spontacts, Contovista, Frontify etc.), Jan Fülscher (BAS head office, organizer SwissICT Investor’s Day), Dania Gerhardt (Amazeelabs), Pascal Mathis (GetYourGuide, Google), Ralph Mogicato (Solution Providers), Myke Näf (Doodle), Oliver Staffelbach (Wenger & Vieli, SMAMA). Discussions with other people are ongoing.

The club plans to support start-ups in very early stages and to continue supporting the companies when they gain traction. Details about the operations of the club will follow later this year.

However one thing is already clear: The new club will organize the ICT Investor’s Days in the future. The next events are planned for September in Zurich and for October in Lausanne.
