Promising early-stage start-ups presenting at Mobicamp

5 Start-ups who are truly bootstrapping their start-up efforts can get subsidized tickets for the Swiss Mobile Camp 2012. 4 of them are already invited: The Stuffbook, Kliq, Spocal and Newscron. They will participate in the Dragons Den style competition. A good opportunity to meet promising new start-ups.

Last week we published a report on Startupticker about the speakers of the Swiss mobile camp 2012. But of course not only the speakers are of interest. The one day event is also a good opportunity to meet promising start-ups.

5 young companies who are bootstrapping their start-up efforts can get subsidized tickets, thanks to the support from EPFL and CTI. Martin Coul, founder of the event, is looking for early stage start-ups that have yet to raise any funds from organisations like Venturelab and are simply funding their dreams by savings, friends, family and fools.

The stuffbook: The smartphone platform empowers consumers and small businesses to make money by renting their items or services in minutes, and request local items and services on demand and pay just for usage. Contact: team@stuffbook.org 

Kliq introduces you to new people and ideas at the events you are already attending. Kliq's event management iPhone app let you answer questions about a Facebook event and find someone whose ideas and personality you "Kliq" with.

Spokals web and mobile applications provide a centralized interaction space where university students can exchange anonymous messages. Other students can interact with the messages or contact directly the author if the content resonates with them.

Newscron is an iPhone/Android app with 1000 unique users a day. The aim of Newscron is to become the news aggregator for professionals. Focusing on deliver high quality and very complete information by combing news from different sources, generating time lines, and enriching the news with feedbacks from social networks.

Swiss Mobile Basecamp 2012 will take place in Bern on 18 January.
