New Start-Up funding area president appointed for the CTI

The Federal Council has appointed Lutz Nolte as the new vice president of the Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI) and president of the Start-Up and Entrepreneurship funding area.

Lutz Nolte, new vice president of CTI and responsible for the Start-up and Entrepreneurship area, was born in 1962 and is Director of the Institute for Surgical Technology and Biomechanics at the University of Bern. Following a degree in structural engineering, he went on to gain a PhD in theoretical mechanics. After basic research relating to the calculation of complex structures and a stint in security technology, he moved into the field of orthopaedic research.
 
Lutz Nolte will take on the duties of Faris Sabeti with retroactive effect from 1 January 2013. Nolte has been a CTI expert since 2001 and has led the CTI Medtech initative in the life sciences. Lutz Nolte brings with him considerable expertise and familiarity with the CTI.
