Next Wednesday the first Swiss Mobicamp will take place in Bern and to celebrate Skype, who are one of the event sponsors will offer free Skype WiFi across the whole of Switzerland. And this is not the only important news Mobicamp Organiser Martin Coul published today.

Swiss mobile basecamp 2012 is an initiative to boost mobile start-ups in Switzerland and provide them with the tools and knowledge to success beyond the Swiss borders. The event will take place in Bern on 18 January at Swisscom’s BrainGym, and there are only 2 tickets remaining. To celebrate the launch and their sponsorship of Swiss Mobicamp, Skype will offer free Skype WiFi across the whole of Switzerland on this day from 00:01 until 23:59.

Users just have to connect to the 'Skype WiFi' hotspot on their device WiFi settings. They should make sure that they have the latest version of Skype installed on their Windows or Mac device, or the Skype WiFi app on iOS and follow the prompts. Once connected with Skype WiFi, it is possible to make a Skype video or voice call, surf the web, send an email, check friend's updates or hang out online.

The second important announcement of Mobicamp concerns the names of the 10 Dragon's Den finalists. The candidates were selected by Richard Marler, a London based consultant and business angel, impartial to the Swiss start-up scene who has sold his successful company to Nokia some time ago following a rigorous application process that was over-subscribed.
