The international jury, comprised of Nuno Bernardo, Oriane Hurard, Mela Kocher and Christian Popp, has met for its second round and selected four transmedia projects to receive financial support. The projects had already received funding amounting to CHF 10,000 for developing the project and taken part in a workshop and mentoring programme organised by Focal. With 93 entries submitted last March, the interest in the first “Call for Transmedia Projects” was exceptionally high.

The “Intopolitiks” transmedia project by Susanne Hofer, Antonia Beamish and Dominique Margot is specifically geared to children, aiming to give them a better understanding of politics in an entertaining manner. The jury allotted CHF 100,000 for the realisation of the project. The Web series “Life on Venus?” by Géraldine Rod and Michael Mitchell in collaboration with CAB Productions will be funded with CHF 80,000. Also funded with CHF80,000 is the game and e-book submitted by Salar Shana “Ma vie de Courgette,” the animation film with the same name by Rita Productions. The jury allotted CHF 40,000 to the interactive story “IDNA” by the apelab interactive-design studio.

The projects will be presented in conjunction with the “Imaging The Future Symposium” in Neuchâtel on July 8. Then in September 2014, the funded projects will participate in a second workshop organised by the Foundation for professional training in cinema and audiovisual media (FOCAL). The total amount of funding available for the production of the “Call for Transmedia Projects” was CHF 350,000.

The “Call for Transmedia Projects” is an initiative promoted by the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia and the Federal Office of Culture, in collaboration with the Solothurn Film Festival and the Foundation for professional training in cinema and audiovisual media (FOCAL).
