BSkyB has acquired Swiss Acetrax

End of April, the British Sky Broadcasting Group acquired Acetrax, a small over-the-top (OTT) internet TV provider, which provides a transactional video on demand service to a wide range of internet-connected devices. Acetrax was founded in 2006 in Zurich.

In its last quarterly earnings report BSkyB disclosed that the media group had bought a small company named Acetrax, an independent pan-European Video on Demand operator. The company was founded in Zurich in 2006 by Uwe Placzek, Walter Jucker and Leslie Golding. Acetrax is distributing content of the Hollywood majors and the most important European studios via embeddes apps to all types of devices (TVs, BD players, set-top boxes, personal computers, tablets, mobiles).

In its earnings report BSkyB writes. “The acquisition will support the continued development of Sky’s OTT activities and further strengthen relationships with connected device manufacturers and content providers. Acetrax's gross assets as at 31st December 2011 were £2.3 million.”
