SEF4KMU: A growing portfolio of label holders and prospects for 2020

The "SEF4KMU.High-Potential-KMU" is a quality label bestowed on to startups and young SMEs that have a robust growth strategy. Since 2013, the SEF4KMU committee has rewarded 58 startups with the label. In 2019 alone, seven startups received the label: Eventfrog, Pickwings, neho, bestsmile, SoFlow and most recently Coorpacademy and Zircon Medical joined the cohort.

The EPFL startup, Coorpacademy operates a digital Learning Experience platform offering tailor-made content for corporate clients. Designed to revolutionize online training market, the platform integrates the latest innovations in instructional design, including gamification, microlearning and adaptive and social learning. From the medical industry, Zircon Medical with its ceramic dental implant system offers a superior solution that outcompetes conventional implants that pose danger to patients with bacteria or titanium intolerance.

More offers for startups in 2020
Last year, a team of 60 SEF experts evaluated startups that are eligible for the label and also organised more than 149 strategy checks and company visits. Nonetheless, SEF has recognised the need to provide additional offers to support the development of other aspects such as networking. Therefore, in addition to the label, SEF4KMU announced new programs in its annual report. Alongside the "SEF Growth, the regional "SEF4SME Networking Lunches" and "Best Practice Events" will kick off in 2020. Participation is free for startups.
