Designed to strengthen the development of promising startups, the Microsoft for Startups program has welcomed new entrants: Acodis, KimboCare and Facedapter. The cohort will benefit from Microsoft’s technology expertise and infrastructure to advance their solutions.

The Microsoft for Startups program is a free, global program dedicated to helping B2B startups successfully scale their companies by providing them with access to technology including Azure and GitHub Enterprise, in addition to expertise and access to its global partner ecosystem. The following startups have recently joined the program.

Acodis – AI document processing
To facilitate the automation of business documents, Acodis developed the Acodis Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) platform, powered by machine learning, to enable automated processing of any document within seconds. This replaces manual document transfers and allows extracted data to be exported in a structured format. Founded in 2016 in Winterthur, Acodis currently employs 25 people. By joining the program, the Swiss Software company gains a strong partner to revolutionise IDP with artificial intelligence. Acodis is already leveraging the Microsoft Azure platform to build scalable document solutions for enterprises with hosting in Switzerland and designed to meet their high standards regarding reliability, security and data privacy.

KimboCare – Health care
KimboCare, incorporated in 2019, aims to make high-quality healthcare accessible to all people in West Africa. KimboCare offers a blockchain platform that enables anyone to purchase quality care for people who cannot afford it. The prepaid medical services, called "Health Credits" on KimboCare, are available almost immediately. With the cost and effectiveness of care being transparent to participants, KimboCare also protects the privacy and security of its users, thanks to data encryption. After a successful pilot last year, KimboCare has already provided hundreds of patients with appropriate medical treatment. The company is now aiming to attract vetted medical providers to ensure outcome-based and better patient experience. As part of the Microsoft for Startups programme, the company receives support for its mission through Microsoft's cloud solutions such as the Azure cloud services, locally accessible via Microsoft's data centres in Switzerland.

Faceadapter – biometric authentication
Based in Geneva, AI company Facedapter developed a unified identity management system that allows for facial recognition in real-time to improve the performance, capacity, security, and customer experience for governments, law enforcement firms and enterprises in the travel industry. It is the world's first biometric company that requires neither a database to identify people nor enrolling a new database. The multi-modal AI-powered facial biometric authentication is 10x faster, secured, and cost-effective. The mentors and resources provided by Microsoft will allow Facedapter to reach a broader and diverse audience. Facedapter also benefits from the experience and expertise of Microsoft cybersecurity teams to enter the market to provide trusted digital identities through multi-modal AI-powered biometric systems.
