Swisscom Startup Challenge reveals the finalists

The search for the most innovative cleantech startup for the Swisscom Startup Challenge is coming to an end. The selection committee has selected ten Swiss start-ups that will further contest to become one of the five winners.

Only the five best startups will win the Swisscom StartUp Challenge Cleantech. The prize comprises a week-long Exploration Programme (from November 7-11, 2022) with sustainability and ICT experts from Swisscom and access to the Swisscom ecosystem. During that period, the winners will benefit from mentoring, workshops and coaching sessions, access to a network of climate protection and energy efficiency entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, as well as access to a network of potential customers and business partners. Moreover, winners will have the chance to secure a business partnership with Swisscom, an investment from Swisscom Ventures and a ticket to the NOAH conference.

The finalists are:

Almer Technologies AG
Almer Technologies is developing compact, and lightweight augmented reality glasses to increase efficiency for frontline workers in technical industries to foster communication among front line workers and experts.This helps to alleviate several problems that companies face: time spent by an expert to go to a foreign subsidiary; the expert’s transportation costs; and finally, reducing the company’s carbon footprint.

batterylog GmbH
Batterylog provides an ecosystem for battery-related data. Based on a digital twin and sophisticated battery models, the startup analyses recorded data and translates them into KPIs for business customers producing, developing, or managing fleets of battery-driven applications.

ECCO2 Solutions AG
ECCO2 reduces heating energy consumption in buildings by an average of 15% with an IoT/AI/data-based solution and compiles ESG-relevant building data. Today, institutional real estate owners are challenged by high energy consumption defined by high energy costs, legal obligations, and social pressure are real pains. Energy efficiency impacts market value for tenants and investors. ECCO2 Solution is fast, affordable, fits anywhere and is subsidised by the Swiss government.

EH Group Engineering AG  
Established in 2017, EH Group is focused on the deployment of its innovative hydrogen Fuel Cell (FC) technology.  It offers high power density, greater system efficiency, and scalable assembly that radically reduces costs. They aim to accelerate the decarbonisation of heavy-duty mobility (trucks, trains, ferries, aviation) and large-scale stationary power (EV superchargers, data centers, back-up).  

Loopia
Loopia is the digital platform for implementing the circular economy for consumer products. Its Circularity-as-a-Service offering enables retailers to participate in the circular economy in a short time. Consumers benefit from a one-stop shop of services such as repair, reuse, share and recycling for all their products during the use phase.

Mobileup
Mobileup is a platform for selling and buying used smartphones and tablets. All devices come with a 12-month warranty and 30 days right to return. When it comes to buying a refurbished device, price and product range are key factors for customers. Thus, Mobileup established APIs to the largest European suppliers of refurbished smartphones and tablets. Its algorithm identifies the devices with the best price-quality ratio, enabling the company to match the supply with the customer’s demand.

Resilio SA
Resilio helps organisations achieve a sustainable IT transition. Through its innovative platform, the team assesses companies’ digital footprint and IT costs accurately, easily, and in scalable manner and implements strategies to reduce them. In addition to software, customers benefit from consulting and training services.

SmartHelio Sarl
Having invested $15 Mn in R&D, SmartHelio developed software which predicts faults in solar PV plants in real-time to prevent downtime and increase revenue by up to 10%. Top solar developers in Europe, Asia and the USA use the technology to make solar assets profitable and sustainable. Besides being the fastest growing cleantech data intelligence company in the world, it is a Bcorp and Y Combinator company.

SoHHytec SA
SoHHytec designs, develops, builds and operates artificial Gardens and Forests, providing green-Fuel and Power as a service. The solution depends on the company’s proprietary ‘Artificial Tree’ system – a renewable system for onsite production of solar Fuel (Hydrogen, Oxygen) and Power (Electricity and Heat). The product ‘Arb’ is a versatile and flexible system utilising sunlight and water, achieving efficiencies of >70% requiring minimal space.

Swiss Vault AG
Swiss Vault is a data innovation company that helps the world efficiently manage their data forever with low environmental impact. Its mission is to provide organisations with technology that combines hardware and software solutions for better, economical, resilient and environmentally sustainable data management.
