Swiss startups win first prizes in the Innovation World Cup 2023

The Innovation World Cup Series supports breakthrough innovations connects techpreneurs with international tech corporations. Two award competitions for various categories took place during the Hannover Messe on 19 April 2023, the world’s flagship fair in industrial transformation, and the 43rd Wearable Technologies conference in Munich on April 24th, 2023.

Two Swiss startups won first prizes in two award programs.

The Innovation Worldcup at the WT|Wearable Technologies Conference Europe, focusing on the wearable tech industry, attracted more than 600 applications from startups, scale-ups, and leading tech founders and SMEs worldwide. The jury selected the top 12 techpreneurs to present at the Pitch and Award ceremony. Companies that met the criteria level of innovation, technology, market approach, and sustainability impact won prizes. One of them is Switzerland-based machineMD, which received the top award.

Founded in 2019, machineMD combines virtual reality and artificial intelligence to develop innovative solutions to radically improve the early detection of brain disorders such as stroke, multiple sclerosis and brain tumours. The company’s product neos, is a fully automated, non-invasive diagnostic device that measures eye and pupil movements – important biomarkers to diagnose neurological disorders. In contrast to today’s manual examination, which takes 45 minutes, neos can perform eight neuro-ophthalmic tests within ten minutes. By winning the award, machineMD will now officially be part of the Innovation World Cup Hall of Fame and will be promoted by the Innovation World Cup, WT | Wearable Technologies, along with the IWC Series community partners worldwide.

Four other Swiss startups made it to the finalists’ podium. Lighthouse Tech, Netsensing Technology, Ostloong Innovations and Pulsewave.

Swiss startup wins first prize at Hannover Messe
Swiss OceanTech is the winner of the 14th Innovation World Cup in the mobility category. The startup won with its solution ‘AnchorGuardian’. Due to its complexity, anchoring is a dangerous operation and thus requires specific skills, routine and a certain degree of mastery, experience and sensitivity to the vessels and water bodies. AnchorGuardian is a patented technology that measures the position and absolute movement of a ship’s anchor to minimise the risk of collisions and anchor dragging by providing predictions and immediate alarms when dragging is imminent.

The startup and other winners will also make imprints in the Hall of Fame of the Innovation World Cup – the international award and catalyst for future innovations in the Internet of Things, Wearable Technologies and DeepTech. They will receive significant support from leading global tech experts, potential investors, and business partners to scale up.
