Swiss startups get global exposure

Six high-tech startup competitions collected awards from various startup competitions worldwide including the US, the Nordics, Singapore. Fintech startup scored a spot in Global Fintech Hackcelerator while Hemotune’s solution got recognition from Frost & Sullivan, one of the most recognized market research companies.

Swisspod – Creative Destruction Lab
Swisspod has been selected among the companies participating in the 2022/23 Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) program organized by the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School. The company is enrolled in the Climate Stream, alongside 19 other companies aiming to support sustainable development and generate a positive impact on the environment and climate change-related issues. Swisspod earned its spot in the program through the pioneering work it has accomplished in developing Hyperloop, a more sustainable, energy-efficient, and affordable mode of transportation for both people and freight, addressing the global demand for high-speed travel with a small environmental footprint.

SustainSME – F10 Nordics and Baltics
F10 revealed the finalists for the first edition of the Climate Fintech Incubation program in the Nordics and Baltics – SustainSME from Switzerland is one of them. The Zurich-based startup developed a platform that enables finance providers to offer sustainability-linked finance to SMEs. Their marketplace creates an ecosystem that supports SME-businesses on their sustainability journey. The startups kicked off the program in on November 8th in Stockholm and on November 18th they will get the chance to pitch their solutions for the first time during an official side-event at Slush conference on in front of an audience of industry experts, corporates and investors.

Corintis - Intel Ignite
Intel Ignite was launched in 2019 and has been active across Europe from Munich since 2020. For twelve weeks, the innovative start-ups work intensively together not only with technology experts from Intel but also investors, entrepreneurs, serial founders and leading industry experts to accelerate their growth. Lausanne -based Corintis develops a process and AI-based software for efficient liquid cooling directly in micro-chips.

FQX – Global Fintech Hackcelerator
After presenting their pitches, 10 industry judges of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Global FinTech Hackcelerator selected three best startups that each received S$50,000 in prize money, and a fast-tracked application for MAS' Financial Sector Technology and Innovation proof-of-concept grant. Zurich-based FQX AG is one of the program beneficiaries. Zurich-based Fintech startup FQX built the first market-ready solution for eNotes, a disruptive short-term financing and payment instrument built on an unconditional promise to pay a specific sum to another party in a particular future date.

Hemotune – Technology Innovation Leader
The Schlieren-based MedTech company was honored with the Technology Leadership Award in Blood Purification Technology by Frost & Sullivan, one of the most recognized market research companies. Hemotune develops a therapeutic blood purification platform to improve health outcomes and save patients’ lives. The innovative medical device company provides ground-breaking blood purification technology based on magnetic beads, which uniquely removes large biomolecule targets with extremely high selectivity and efficiency. The system will be first used to treat sepsis, a severe life-threatening condition linked to 20% of all deaths and rising healthcare costs according to hemotune. Its solution focuses on the immunological aspects of sepsis, tackling multiple disease pathways while restoring immune balance.

VRM Switzerland – Laureate Awards Night
The 2022 Laureate award presented during the Aviation Week Network’s 65th Annual Laureate Awards Night in Washington DC, USA, was bestowed to VRM Switzerland, the Swiss startup that developed the world’s first Virtual Reality training device (simulator) for the twin-engine H145 helicopter. According to the company’s blog, “this international award recognizes VRM Switzerland’s commitment to aviation safety and accessibility to aviation training, thus ushering in VRM Switzerland’s commitment to international expansion,” says Christian Marty, CTO.
