Silver with DNA overlay

Customers outside Switzerland enable startups to spread their footprints worldwide. Four scale up startups offering solutions in fintech, satellite communication, sustainability and sportstech have won globally active companies as customers.

Insiders (formerly Advanced Sport Instruments) was founded in 2021 by Lionel Yersin (CTO) and Julien Moix (COO) and it employs more than 20 people. The startup provides performance measurement and monitoring solutions for sports. It has sold more than 15,000 devices, mainly to professional soccer clubs via partners and resellers worldwide. Velon, the company formed by the world’s top professional cycling teams to take fans into the heart of the sport, has selected Insiders as its official supplier of data transmission devices of Velon. Insiders will supply Velon with the INTENSE device, which is mounted under the saddles of bikes to capture live data, including position, power (watts) and cadence (RPM – revolutions per minute of the pedals). Velon pioneered this new type of data application in the sport to show the fans the riders’ performance. Cycling fans worldwide see the data during the races and get inside the performance of their favourite athletes in digital channels of Velon – the newest of which is Road Code.

Taurus joins forces with Pernod Ricard
Taurus has partnered with Pernod Ricard, one of the world’s leading premium spirits companies, to deploy Taurus’ tokenisation and custody product suite to power its Web3 initiatives. The Taurus-CAPITAL will be used for the issuance and lifecycle management of its brands’ NFTs, and Taurus-PROTECT for the secure storage of NFTs. Pernod Ricard will also use Taurus’ blockchain node infrastructure Taurus-EXPLORER, which provides a unified API and reliable broadcasting algorithms to interface securely with multiple blockchain networks. The collaboration between Taurus and Pernod Ricard highlights the increased interest by premium brands to leverage blockchain and NFTs in their marketing and client engagement strategies. By building their own NFTs and controlling their distribution, premium and luxury companies protect their brand equity and avoid dilution. They also ensure their client experience and engagement align with their brand promises.

Swissto12 wins over Inmarsat
Inmarsat, a world leader in global mobile satellite communications, has selected SWISSto12, one of Europe’s fastest-growing aerospace providers, to develop its new eighth-generation of spacecraft. The three I-8 satellites will provide additional network resilience, securing the future of Inmarsat’s global L-band safety services. SWISSto12 will use its HummingSat satellite platform - with unique 3D-printing technologies and specialised Radio-Frequency (RF) and payload products - to develop and manufacture the geostationary satellites, which will launch by 2026.

Haelixa DNA technology authenticates Silver
The DNA tracing technology developed by Haexila is solved in liquid form and applied by spraying onto raw materials and finished products. In addition to being used in the textile industry, the solution has entered a new application field. Argor-Heraeus Latin America (AHLA), a chemical, precious metals, state-of-the-art technology and R&D company of Chilean-Swiss origin, aims to elevate the standards of refining silver by building a new refinery, set to open in the Fall of 2023. The facility will refine silver and mark it with Haelixa’s DNA physical traceability solution to ensure the authenticity of silver.

In the AHLA project, DNA application will be automated entirely into their mechanical systems for consistent application. Once the liquid evaporates, the DNA adheres to the silver bars and cannot be removed or altered. After marking with the exclusive DNA for AHLA silver, it is tested along the supply chain to ensure the same silver is making the journey. The DNA presence is detected through PCR testing, providing an indisputable forensic result. The test outcome will prove the silver’s origination from the mine and confirm the authenticity and product integrity of the AHLA refinery.
