The annual Start Summit conference takes place on March 24 and 25, with more than 2500 visitors on-site in St. Gallen and over 1000 on its virtual platform. A range of activities awaits the audience, including keynotes and panel discussions, fireside chats, workshops, networking and the flagship Start Summiteer award for which the deadline expires on March 16.

Every year, Start Global, a student organisation providing a platform to the next generation of entrepreneurs, organises the Start Summit Conference brings together more than 5000 startups, investors, corporates and young talents. This year the event will welcome over 2500 visitors in person in St. Gallen and around 1000 online.

With technology evolving rapidly, and many companies are striving to catch up with the pace as they manoeuvre in the ever-changing digital landscape, this year’s conference stages Start Summit staged this year's event with the motto “The World in 2042” with three core themes:

  1. Tech of tomorrow: get ready for the next big wave of innovation fueled by technologies such as quantum computing, synthetic biology, Al, and blockchain.
  2. Be lucky or choose timing: being too early sucks. A motivated team can move from a bad idea to a better one, but it is still not the right idea if the timing is wrong. The event will address how entrepreneurs can recognise paradigm-shifting technologies
  3. Founder of the next generation: the next-generation founders no longer fit the outdated boy band stereotype. To succeed, they address diversity and different skill-sets to solve the most complex problems while being environmentally cautious. Besides seeking financial gains, they add value to society.

Over 120 speakers will attend the event (with ten on a virtual stage) to address the topics above through different formats such as keynotes, fireside chats and panel discussions. Some of the speakers are Luciana Lixandru, partner sequoia capital; Jochen Engert, Co-Founder & CEO FlixMobility; Daniel Weinand, Co-Founder Shopify, and many more.

Various activities will occur through the event; the start fair will enable startups and ecosystem players to showcase their offers, while workshops, speed-dating, and matchmaking will allow visitors to explore, learn, and forge new connections. Attendees will access the event and matchmaking platform upon registration.

The finals will take place on March 25 on the main stage, where the top 4 startups will give an in-depth pitch and receive feedback and answer the jury’s questions. The winner will receive a cheque of CHF 10.000, a 6-month angel mentorship, and a Breitling watch.

The start Hack, a 36-hour hackathon that brings together different players to solve underlying challenges, will occur within the framework of the Start Summit from March 23 to 25. The event’s case study partners will present their challenges for the participants to tackle.
