South Pole has closed a new round of funding led by Temasek and added Salesforce Ventures as minority investor. In partnering with Temasek, South Pole aims to scale up emission reduction projects across Asia.

South Pole announces two new minority investors: Salesforce Ventures, the global investment arm of Salesforce, based in San Francisco, and Temasek. Temasek is a global investment company with a net portfolio value of $283 billion as at 31 March 2021. Headquartered in Singapore, it has 13 offices in 9 countries around the world. This investment underscores Temasek's continuing journey to catalyse decarbonisation efforts that will address today's climate challenges. This partnership will offer new clients a range of services, including measuring climate impact, setting science-based emissions targets, creating emission reduction strategies, compensating for unavoidable carbon emissions, and investing in climate finance.

South Pole both develops emission reduction projects globally as well as implements comprehensive climate solutions and strategies that turn climate action into long-term business opportunities for companies, governments and organizations around the world. South Pole is also a leading carbon project developer, and has provided nearly 1,000 projects in over 50 countries

"We don't have much time left to reach net zero emissions. As a global leading climate finance and technology-based company, we are excited to welcome Temasek and Salesforce Ventures as new shareholders. After leading European impact investor Lightrock joined South Pole in early 2021, adding new technology-driven investors from Asia and the U.S. is the next logical step to underscore our ambition to democratize climate action," said Renat Heuberger, CEO and co-Founder of South Pole.
