Shell (Switzerland) AG has entered into an agreement to fully acquire the share capital and activities of evpass, the largest network of charging stations for electric vehicles in Switzerland. The network was founded in 2016 by the cleantech startup Green Motion.

Evpass is accessible in all cantons and in 33% of municipalities throughout Switzerland. The most extensive network of public EV charging stations, with 3,000 charging points and 50,000 subscribers, complements Shell's e-mobility offering, which also includes Shell Recharge and ubitricity. "For many, the switch to an e-car is linked to finding enough charging options. We want to drive the mobility revolution by making it easy for people to take the step to climate-friendly mobility," said Hasan Haybat, head of Shell's Swiss service station business.

The evpass Board of Directors is convinced that with the new strategic investor, the next phase of development will be successful. François Randin, CEO and founder of evpass, says: "As founder of evpass, I am sure that Shell, as a major global energy player, is the best investor to ensure the growth of the largest charging network in Switzerland and to continue my original vision of responsible and environmentally friendly individual mobility."

Evpass was founded by François Randin as part of his startup Green Motion, which was sold to Eaton in 2021. Prior to the acquisition by Shell evpass was owned by Eaton, FMV (Forces Motrices Valaisannes) and the energy provider AEW. No details of the transaction value have been disclosed.
