Swiss startups interested in exploring the Israel startup ecosystem are invited to apply for the START JLM, a five-day immersive startup program in Jerusalem. The most promising entrepreneurs will be invited to a final event in Bern where an expert panel will choose and announce the winner. Deadline for the submission of applications is 22 September.

Israel is recognized globally as the “Start-Up Nation,” a major hub for technology and innovation. Its sacred city Jerusalem, is one of the fastest growing tech hubs and an exciting place for entrepreneurs, a home base for Israel’s leading companies, investors and academic institutions. The city’s multicultural energy has created a unique environment for innovators to connect and bring their world-changing ideas to fruition. Through its wealth of human capital, Israel has generated more start-up companies than most large industrial nations. In addition, Israel has attracted over twice as much venture capital investment per capita as the US, and 30 times more than all the members of the European Union combined.

To allow entrepreneurs from around the world to experience, learn and be part of this vibrant startup ecosystem, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Jerusalem Development Authority, the Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage, and the Municipality of Jerusalem, in partnership with leading local organizations such as Siftech, Intel, JVP and OurCrowd, joined forces to organize «Start JLM».

Start JLM is a five day business trip that brings together innovative early-stage start-up founders from around the world to explore and experience Jerusalem’s vibrant start-up ecosystem. The five day program will help founders to gain momentum for their entrepreneurial journey ahead by exposing them to different aspects related to starting and scaling a startup, by engaging with Israel’s leading entrepreneurs, investors and domain experts and learn from their unique experience as well as experience first-hand the entrepreneurial and cultural vibe of the city.

On behalf of Switzerland, the Embassy of Israel to Switzerland and the Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI) invite Swiss technology startups to submit their application, which will be assessed in two steps. The selection process includes submission of the application form providing information required to assess the team and idea. After the initial screening, the most promising applicants will be invited to a pitching event in Bern on October 9, 2017.

Following the pitching event, the panel of experts will select and announce one winner who will be invited to participate in the Start JLM program in Jerusalem from November 5 to November 11, 2017. The program’s costs will be fully funded by the organizers, including one round-trip flight ticket and accommodation.

Interested startups are requested to fill in and submit the attached registration form below to startJLM@bern.mfa.gov.il. Registration closes on 22 September 2017.
