LORIOT is a Swiss start-up in the field of Internet of Things, founded in 2015. Its technology is being used in more than 70 countries on 6 continents. This September, Loriot has expanded its LoRaWan services to South America.

Loriot was founded in 2015 by Vit Prajzler and Julian Studer. LORIOT.io is a provider of software and services for scalable, distributed operation of LoRaWAN networks and applications. LoRaWAN is designed to provide Low Power Wide Area Network with features specifically needed to support low-cost, mobile, secure bi-directional communication for Internet of Things (IoT), machine-to-machine (M2M), and smart city, and industrial applications.

Loriot.io is both a network operator (Network as a Service, NaaS) and software provider (SaaS / Software Licensing). Unlike other companies providing only LoRaWAN software, the start-up has a unique positioning in the market - serving the role of market makers connecting hardware producers, network operators and application developers. The collaboration allows Loriot to offer not only network software, but a complete end-to-end solution for a real-world IoT application, including gateway and sensor hardware. Typical customers are small and medium enterprises in the Internet of Things business, cities, municipalities and wireless network operators.

Expansion to South America
Following a successful long-term operation of existing LoRaWAN connectivity infrastructure nodes in Europe, Singapore, China, Australia and the United States, Loriot has now expanded its public server offering to South America. The server is compliant with the US variant of the LoRaWAN specification for the 915MHz band (902 MHz to 928 MHz), but can adapt any specific regional requirements and band plans.

Loriot is now being actively used in more than 70 countries on 6 continents. In all of the countries it provides solutions matching specific local ISM radio regulations, working ahead of the LoRaWAN Standard specification to meet the market needs for LoRaWAN.

"Our North American Server has already successfully boosted our market presence in US, Canada, but also in Mexico and many countries in South America, that use the same frequency bands as the US." said Vit Prajzler, CEO of Loriot, "Thanks to the new node in Sao Paulo, we can offer an unparalled user-experience and low latency, high throughput and high performance connectivity for the LoRa gateway and end-nodes anywhere in South America."
