Skioo, the startup from the Canton de Vaud just raised CHF 1.5 million to further develop its business in Switzerland. It has also appointed Matthias Thürer as its new Marketing Manager.

In an article published last week by swiss economic newspaper L’Agefi, Gregory Barbezat, Skioo’s CEO announced that his startup has raised CHF 1.5 million thanks to support of Aksel Lund Svindal. The Norvegian Olympic and multiple Ski World Cup champion is one the three new investors of the company.

The newly raised funds will be used to further develop its online tour operator network as well as the number of ski resorts partnering with Skioo. The startup has an ambitious objective for the winter season 2015-2016 as it aims to increase the number of skier-days from 9’000 last season to more than 60’000.

To achieve this goal the startup with offices in Lausanne and Zurich hired Matthias Thürer as its new Marketing Manager. Starting on October 1st, Mathias Thürer was in charge until recently of eBookers Marketing in Europe. He is expected to bring his expertise to boost Skioo’s customer experience

In the article published by L’Agefi we learn also that Skioo will benefit in the future from the experience and advice of Nicolas Perretta who becomes a board advisor for the startup. Mr. Perretta was formerly part of the SkiData Executive Committee.

Created in December 2012, Skioo aims to make the ski industry even more attractive, give winter sport enthusiasts easier access to the slopes, improve relations between skiers and ski resorts and opening new channels for online sales. The skioo.com platform provides skipasses without standing in line at the cashier‘s desk in 29 Swiss resorts, such as Verbier, Davos-Klosters, Saas-Fee, Crans-Montana, Gstaad Mountain Rides and Leukerbad,
