Roomz Display

Following the successful launch wireless meeting room displays and intelligent sensors, ROOMZ introduces its first solar-powered displays. The Fribourg startup solution just won the "Innovation Trophy" in the technology category at the Workspace Expo in Paris. Earlier in Summer the company closed a growth financing round to fuel its expansion in Europe.

ROOMZ wireless displays are now in use in many companies worldwide as a digital signage solution for the efficient management of work and meeting rooms. The tech-savvy experts from Fribourg are launching the ROOMZ Solar Kit this October. This kit replaces the non-rechargeable battery in wireless ROOMZ displays with an organic photovoltaic film. This enables the displays to supply their own power autonomously. ROOMZ brought its partner ASCA on board to develop this innovative display solution. The prototype demonstrates the advantages: complete power autonomy combined with a low-carbon solution. The enhanced light sensitivity makes OPV module developed by ASCA particularly effective in low-light environments: it generates power indoors in artificial lighting conditions. The service life of these low-carbon displays is at least 20 years. What’s more, users significantly reduce costs when it comes to maintenance and logistics for battery replacement.

Recognition and funding for Europe expansion

The solution born from the collaboration between ROOMZ and ASCA is the first step towards a long-term partnership between the two companies. They share the same values and vision: to develop forward-looking solutions that simplify every day working life for people, while being part of the energy revolution. "We are excited to work with ASCA's teams to develop the solutions of tomorrow," enthused Roger Meier, President and CEO of ROOMZ. "This partnership will empower the innovative ecosystem we have been working on for several years aimed at offering IoT devices with an ever-smaller environmental footprint," added Moïra Asses, Marketing and Business Development Director of ASCA. The results of the partnership were recently recognized at the Workspace Expo in Paris, where the innovative ROOMZ solutions were awarded for their sustainable and ecological approach.

Last but not least, the Fribourg startup closed a growth financing of CHF 1 million with the existing Swiss investors in August. This will enable the company to finance the development of further products in the "Smart Offices" segment and accelerate market expansion in Europe.
