Prominent investor for Coachbetter

Steven Nzonzi, a French professional football player at Qatar Stars League club Al-Rayyan and 2018 FIFA World Cup Winner, has joined the investor’s board of Coachbetter, the sports-tech startup digitalising professional and grassroots football has attracted. Nonzi’s investment is part of the startup’s current seed financing round.

Founded in 2018 by Patrick Patzig, Thomas Grimm, Simon Arpagaus, and Stefan Steuble, Coachbetter’s platform and app help coaches, clubs and federations worldwide to align, communicate and collaborate. Users have access to a rich digital library of drills and training curricula to better plan and execute development plans with proven techniques from every level of football.

The world’s biggest names in football, such as Borussia Dortmund, already use Coachbetter for player and coaches’ education throughout their international academies. In Switzerland, numerous amateur clubs rely on Coachbetter for player development, including FC Mutschellen from the canton of Aargau and SV Schaffhausen. Further partnerships are in the pipeline.

As part of its current seed round, Coachbetter has obtained funding from french football player Steven Nzonzi to further drive the startup’s growth, including rolling out the tool in the GSA region and the USA. “Coachbetter meets the needs of all coaches and players and supports their development. I wish it had been there when I was a kid and started playing football. I truly believe in the team and the product and want to support the mission and vision of Coachbetter as an investor with my network”, said Steven Nzonzi.

The professional football player joins Sven Liedkte, a marketing, sales and technology executive that joined the startup’s seed round and strategic advisory board to support Coachbetter's growth strategy with his extensive expertise in sales and marketing in the digital world. His vast experience comes from leading executive roles at renowned companies such as Sandoz, Novartis and EY.

Last year, the startup successfully closed its pre-seed investment round, raising USD 1 million from prestigious investors in the industry. Part of the investors is the well-known Austrian sports manager Markus Egger, former top executive of the Red Bull football & sports division.
