Dropz makes small flavored beads from pressed fruits and herbs that turn ordinary water into a flavorful drink. The start-up has now closed a CHF2.5 million seed funding round.

Oyster Bay, the venture capital fund known for brands such as Oatly and Air Up, among others, has now invested in the Swiss start-up dropz. In addition to Oyster Bay Venture Capital, existing investors, such as Zurich-based VC Backbone Ventures, which launched the financing round, as well as several business angels including Roland Brack have also invested.

Launched in 2021, dropz offers aroma beads in eight different flavors and practical bottles with integrated compartment for the dropz. The dropz are vegan, calorie- and sugar-free and come in eco-friendly packaging. They contain various vitamins or caffeine, depending on the variety. At the moment, the products are still only available in Switzerland. According to dropz founder Zafar Hasher, the Aargau-based start-up will invest the proceeds from the financing round mainly in product development and in building up the company.
